Student of the Year is a 2012 Indian coming-of-age romantic comedy movie directed by Karan Johar and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions and Gauri Khan in collaboration with Red Chillies Entertainment. The movie features newcomers Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles with Rishi Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor and Farida Jalal in supporting roles. The movie also features Boman Irani, Kajol, Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant in guest appearances.
Student of the Year was released on 19 October 2012 in over 1400 locations across India. It was a critical and commercial success and gained positive to mixed reviews from critics and good box office collections. Boxofficeindia.com declared it a hit after its three-week run. The movie remained the second highest grossing Bollywood film in the month of October and is one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of 2012.
The soundtrack with the songs became widely popular.The songs Ishq Wala Love, Radha and The Disco Song were declared chart-busters.

Storyline
Dean Yoginder Vashisht (Rishi Kapoor), retired, has fallen gravely ill. Several students from his final year at St. Theresa's College rush to his side. In flashbacks, they all recall the events that none of them have gotten over yet, including the dean, and how the "Student of the Year" competition shaped who they were, how they related, and what they've become.
